Free Audio and Video File Converter – Format Factory

By Chris Elsey - Founder Of Elsey's Web Services

Many people get confused between the different file formats as new technology comes to the surface. Some of the most popular media file formats are MP3, AVI, MOV, MP4, etc. You have all those media players, and can be sat there for hours on end only to find out that you don’t have the correct codec installed for your favourite player to play that file type. It can be annoying when all you want is to be able to play the file. Well help is at hand. There is a free piece of software called Format Factory.

Format Factory will format any file type into any other file type. Let’s say you have an MP3 file but wanted to make it a WMA file, it’s all easily done in Format Factory. Best of all it will do audio, video and picture files. It will also let you make an ISO image of a CD or DVD. It is fairly straight forward to use but does take some getting used to.

There are many other features built into the software. You can change options like Encoding Complexity, maximum time between key frames, and exactly where the file outputs to. You’ll find an audio and video joiner in the advanced options allowing you to add a FLV and an AVI file together and output it as an SWF file for example.

It is also supporting at least 48 different languages meaning it’s able to be used worldwide.

There is a new release which is v2.20 which can be downloaded from http://www.formatoz.com

Supported OS: NT/XP/2003/Vista/Windows 7.
